Nick, you know, the anime, Thai boxing and game lover on the Be Bold team? He is our driven Technical Marketing Automation Intern. What does that mean and what is he working on day in and day out? We just asked him!
The man behind the name, who is Nick Hellemans?
What are three words which describe you?
- Positive minded
- Putting things in perspective
- Dedicated
What does your day as a Technical Marketing Automation Intern usually look like?
Doing a lot of computer work! I have been given a personal project that I work on independently. I fill my days with writing codes to incorporate the requested functionalities. This, of course, involves the necessary tutorials to make things clear, reading a lot of documentation on the technologies used and debugging my code when there are errors. This can take a lot of time, while sometimes it is the stupidest mistakes. 👨💻
I can always turn to my mentor Vone for the necessary help and explanation. Together, we often go over where I stand in order to define the next steps.
What does your internship involve?

At the beginning of my internship, there were a number of different assignments ready for me and I could choose which one I wanted to start with. I chose to create a data model exporter via a web application. To summarise briefly: The intention is to create a web app where the different customers of Be Bold can log in and look at their personal data model on a clear interface.
As soon as this web app is ready, I will also work on some other things, such as a dashboard to display in the office and the integration of a WordPress system.
Why did you choose to do an internship at Be Bold?
Through my IT-education at AP Hogeschool, we were given a list of various companies that we could contact for an internship. While going through this list, I came across the Be Bold website. It immediately appealed to me. I also immediately noticed a difference with other sites I had already looked at.
So I looked around a bit more and found the concept of marketing automation very appealing. It was subject I would like to study, so I sent an e-mail to introduce myself. And here I am now! 💥
Which part of your internship gives you the most energy?
The freedom I get in making certain choices for my project. My mentor Vone is always open to how I want to approach certain things and which technology I want to use. He gives me good advice on how to go about it, feedback on my ideas and steers me in the right direction.
Which important learning did you already get from your internship?
I had an idea about the concept of marketing automation, but I didn’t know that there is so much involved and to what extent. So much data is used to make marketing automation as efficient and personal as possible.
What is the definition of marketing automation to you?
If there is one thing I have learned from my training courses on marketing automation, it is the importance of personalization. Through marketing automation, we can make the communication between the company and the customer much more personal and very specific.
What does the future of marketing automation hold?
If companies today do not see the power of marketing automation, they will be left in the dust by their competitors. If they get informed about the whole marketing automation process, many will see that it is something with many advantages. It can give your company a big boost in productivity and customer satisfaction.
What are companies that are not yet engaged in marketing automation missing out on?
Efficiency. Why do manual work when it can be done automatically (after setup)? 🤷♂️ That way you can use the extra workforce in other areas.
What’s your goal?
My goal is to learn a lot about all the different facets of IT! Who knows, maybe one day I will become a marketing automation specialist under the guidance of Vone. 😉
